HERRING PAIRING

"HOW CAN A SINGLE FOOD ITEM MAKE ME SO HAPPY?", I THOUGHT AS I SLID ANOTHER HERRING DOWN MY GULLET AND WASHED IT DOWN WITH CHILLED POTATO VODKA, SERVED WITH A CRACK OF BLACK PEPPER. (NICE TOUCH, WHO WOULD OF THOUGHT?) THANKS TO RUSS AND DAUGHTERS AND ASTOR LIQUORS FOR PUTTING TOGETHER A CELEBRATION OF OILY, FATTY, FISHY DELIGHTS.

 APRIL BLOOMFIELD NAILS IT

THANKS MARK AND NIKI

In Moonraker Bond orders pre-war Wolfschmidt vodka from Riga. He promptly sprinkles black pepper over his vodka, telling M, with whom he is dining, that he picked up the habit in Russia and it helped take the fusel oils to the bottom of the glass...

Then admits he just got used to the taste and does it by habit... something like that.

a Herring Pairing... fantastic. looks like you dialed yourself up a pretty good Tuesday. I've got to get to Russ & Daughters next time I'm in New York.
