DASCHER POND
MY PHILOSOPHY IS ALWAYS KEEP THE FISHING RODS IN THE CAR, KEEP ONE IN THE GATOR AND THROW A FLY ROD IN THE GUEST CAR AS WELL. YOU NEVER KNOW. WHEN THE OPPORTUNITY PRESENTS ITSELF.

SPRING LAMB
FOR THE FIRST BIG COOK OUT OF THE SEASON ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, I LARDED A LEG OF LAMB WITH ROSEMARY AND GARLIC, MARINATED IT IN OLIVE OIL AND LEMON (FOR 36 HOURS) AND SLOWLY ROTISSERIED IT ON THE WEBER. IT WAS SERVED WITH A MINT PESTO AND PLENTY OF ROSE.

THE CABIN AT WM BROWN FARM
AFTER LIVING IN AN AIRSTREAM FOR TWO YEARS (NO WINTERS, THANK YOU), BATHING OUTSIDE AND LONGING FOR A TOILET THAT FLUSHED PROPERLY, WE DECIDED IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO BUILD A BATHHOUSE. MY BROTHER BUILT US THE MOST AMAZING JAPANESE INSPIRED SOAKING TUB THAT WAS GOING TO BE THE CENTER OF THE BUILD. WELL, THAT STRUCTURE QUICKLY TURNED INTO A ONE BEDROOM CABIN. THE EXTERIOR IS ALL LOCAL HEMLOCK AND THE INTERIOR IS CEDAR. THIS CABIN NOW FUNCTIONS AS GUEST HOUSE AND OVER FLOW FROM THE MAIN HOUSE. I STILL USE THE OUTDOOR SHOWER EVERYDAY IN THE SUMMER RIGHT UP TO FIRST FROST.

NY NAUTICAL
I USED TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME IN THIS PLACE IN MY EARLY DAYS IN NYC. I WAS LOOKING AT CHARTS, SEARCHING FOR BONEFISH FLATS IN PLACES FAR AWAY FROM THE TYPICAL FLYFISHING "LODGE" CROWD. THE NY NAUTICAL SHOP WAS ON WEST BROADWAY (ACROSS FROM THE ODEON, ANOTHER FAVORITE) AND NOW HAS FOUND ITS HOME AROUND THE CORNER ON DUANE ST. THE SAME GUYS STILL WORK THERE AND ARE VERY PATIENT WITH MANY A LAND LUBBER LIKE MYSELF.
