VINTAGE WAX
ON THIS LAST TRIP TO LONDON I BECAME OBSESSED WITH THESE OLD WAX COATS AND VESTS. THE MORE PATINA THE BETTER. I LOVE WHEN THE AGED WAX COTTON TAKES ON A LEATHERY FINISH. I BOUGHT AS MANY AS MY ORVIS DUFFLE COULD HOLD. BELOW IS THE BOOTY. A MASCOT, LONG COUNTRY COAT, BARBOUR BEDALE, BARBOUR SPEY JACKET ( THE PERFECT WADING COAT FOR FISHING, THAT BARBOUR STOPPED MAKING SOME YEARS AGO. FOOLS..) A GAME KEEPERS VEST (COMPLETE WITH .22 CARTRIDGE CASINGS IN THE POCKET) AND TWO 1960'S BELSTAFF MOTORCYCLE COATS BEAT TO PERFECTION! (PS THE SECOND IS FOR SALE- SIZE 38).

What price range are you thinking on the barbour? Boutique pricing or thrift store pricing?
I'm sorry, i misunderstood that you were referring to the belfast.
Interested in the Belstaff. How much are you asking?
I bought my Barbour Border coat used, and I'm of a mind that they're better that way. After only a few days of wear it felt like I had had it for years - and it looked the part. It's heading off for a re-waxing in anticipation of fall.
Thank you for this remarkable blog.
Best,
bob
is that second belfast still for sale?
Where did you get the vintage jacket's in England?
Love that Trialmaster! How much cabbage are you looking for?
It's from the late 60s, roughly a size 38, in good shape--a little patina, and I'm looking to get $600 for it.
BOB, CHECK OUT GREEN MOUNTAIN REPROOFING FOR YOUR BARBOUR ASK FOR KEN THEY DO GREAT WORK.
THESE WERE ALL FOUND AT FLEA MARKETS IN ENGLAND..
Genius post, great blog!
I just bought myself a vintage Mulberry wax coat. But with it being the height of summer, I gotta wait a couple of months before taking it for a test drive. (Still I sometimes can't resist myself putting it on just for looks..)
Love this blog and the fact that there are still guys around that can appreciate a real wax coat!
